Working for Academia Discover

If you would like to work in a challenging, stimulating and nurturing environment, then this could be the academy for you. We offer a competitive salary, a ten-day paid induction course, and weekly professional development workshops as well as the opportunity to take on extra leadership responsibilities.  Beyond this, we see ourselves as more than just a language academy, and we look for teachers who are going to become fully involved in influencing the future of hundreds of young people.

If you want to work in a place where your voice is heard, your hard work is valued and your ideas are taken on board, please apply to us  by sending your CV to jobsdiscoveracademy@gmail.com.

Our core values

At Academia Discover, we are not only passionate about teaching language, but about teaching our students principles, values and life skills to best prepare them for the future. For instance, we offer extra support workshops, have a scholarship programme for students from underprivileged local schools and run CV writing seminars!

All of this is absolutely free because we really care about each and every student who chooses to study at our academy. Since opening our doors in 2001, we have become an integral part of the community. If you think your core values match ours we would love hear from you!

The benefits of working here

We only teach classes on-site from 4pm onwards every evening, leaving your mornings and weekends free to make the most of living in Spain.

You can specialise in teaching young learners, teens or adults. This reduces your planning time and allows you to excel at what you’re good at and what you most enjoy doing.  You will also be expected to collaborate closely with your fellow teachers and provide mutual support.

You will have the chance to participate in and contribute to the special events we organise in the academy like WOWness Week, St. Patrick’s Day and Earth Day, and you can even run your own events in the academy. We love nothing more than new, creative, innovative ideas!

The academic year begins with a two-week, fully-paid induction and training course, so you will have plenty of time to get to know your new school and colleagues, and to take part in training sessions to benefit both new and experienced teachers.  In our weekly professional development workshops, we share our ideas and experiences, and all teachers are encouraged to present some of these workshops in any areas that interest you. If you have games or classroom activities that work for you, present them to the team!  If you've read a great article, blog or book about teaching, present it to the team!  If you've got ideas about what our students need, present them to the team!

What's living in Lucena like?

Do you enjoy walking to work, spending very little on rent and getting free tapas with your beer? If so, then Lucena could be the ideal place for you. Located in the heart of the Andalusian countryside, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, Lucena is a small, and pretty city ideally located within an hour of Malaga airport by bus, and close to other big cities such as Córdoba, Seville and Granada, as well as stunning natural areas like the Sierra Nevada mountains. This makes it the perfect place to discover the wonders of Andalusia and venture further afield at the weekends.

Lucena is big enough to have all of the major facilities that you need, but also small enough to make you feel like a local, which will give you great opportunities to practise your Spanish.
